Video-Olberman on Hillary's Assassination Remarks: "Unforgiveable!"

The progressive blogosphere and the MSM tubes and airwaves are flooded with reports on Hillary Clinton's Assassination Remark that she made while discussing staying in the race during an interview with the Argus Leader Editorial Board:

On Countdown tonight, Keith Olberman publicly scolded Hillary for invoking a national trauma in this context, calling her remarks, "Unforgiveable."

Regardless of Hillary's luke warm "apology,"  MyDD's Josh Orton has this to say:

So even with the most charitable interpretation, I think her negligence is disqualifying.

he has made himself a surrogate of Obama, so no longer can anyone try to claim he had nothing to do with blowing this in the stratosphere on pure hot air.

and when all someone really wants to do (2.00 / 1)

is find a way to condemn another, they trivialize the apology and label them 'unforgivable', or the 'axis of evil', anything to justify the unjustifiable.

I belive ratings play into this also. He posted a 'preview' diary on dKos prior to going on the air. Last I looked it had over 1000 recommends.

There's not much you can do about someone in a hurry to sell their soul except pity them, and be thankful it's not you.

shilling... (2.00 / 5)

Now Olbermann is what you call a shill. He has gone hook line and sinker into the bash Hillary and Obama is perfect camp.

MSNBC and Olbermann have become the fox news and the billo of the left.

Actually what Keith is doing is very sinister. He appears to be whipping up and inciting black rage against the Clintons. He brings on board all Clinton-hating pundits to bolster his outrage.

Re: shilling... (2.00 / 1)

I don't think I would go that far.

It feels more like he and MSNBC have decided to target the Obama supporters since such a large amount of them are in that younger "money demographic".

It is still bad, because they have put money over good journalism.

Same RFK reference in March, more clearly worded (2.00 / 4)

This from her interview with TIME Managing Editor Richard Stengel, published March 6. Her meaning here is much more clear... and clearly INNOCENT!

TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"?

CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

Enough of your fake outrage! (2.00 / 5)

Sycophants like Ogerman(more appropriate) are dime a dozen. This is what Robert kennedy Jr had to say:

This evening Robert Kennedy Jr., who has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., cautioned folks not to be offended at Clinton's mention of his father's assassination when discussing why she was staying in the race and how there was precedent for the primaries lasting until June.

In a statement, Kennedy Jr. said: "It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."

HAHAHHAHAHAH (2.00 / 2)

listen to this guy! He's so angry it made me laugh, falling off my seat! He's crazed, but then again, he's on the MustStopNobodyButClinton network, in which every show has a Clinton bashing and dishonoring host. Dan Abrams was the closest thing to fair they had.

I used to like KO, until he abused his power. It's okay to favor a candidate, but he really want overboard. He's lost all credibility as a journalist.

This particular spewing of outrage is transparent as all heck. We see right through you Kieth.

Keith Olberman (2.00 / 3)

I don't find him any different than Russert, Matthews, or Hannity for that matter.

Olberman on Hillary's Assassination Remarks (2.00 / 2)

Olbermann was just over the top.  I think she used a piss poor example and whether she meant it in the way that some perceive it, will never be known.  I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Olbermann shows a hint of honesty (2.00 / 3)

basically, KO is saying there are different rules for you because your opponent is African American.

Otherwise, this screed makes absolutely no sense.  Clinton did not "us[e] the word 'assassination' in any way connnect[ed] to Senator Obama," other than his presence in the race.  She was speaking only of primaries running into June, and raising '68 as the most memorable example, BECAUSE of the assassination.  But KO is here to say, basically, 'the context is irrelevant, what you were actually saying is irrelevant, because Obama is black.'

Thank you KO, for finally being honest about your coverage of this race.  The double standard has been announced with rage and vigor.

Faux-trage (none / 0)

When he is working every camera angle during a 'Special Comment', it is no longer spontaneous - and when he begins using the royal 'we', he is not speaking for the little guy.

KO knows there are outrages perpetrated in this country every day; he's even addressed some of them. This doesn't even come close.

A shame, because I appreciate what KO tried to do regarding the Bush Administration and thought his backup staff of female 'Countdown' anchors was a step in the right direction at MSNBC.

But I will not watch smug, self-righteous crap.  He should save some 'outrage' for the fall - when he'll need it.
